A 40 year old man has been sentenced to death by stoning by an Islamic Sharia Court in Ningi, Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State, for committing sodomy.
The convict, identified as Abdullahi Sani, was arrested by members of the community while committing the offense of homosexuality at Unguwar Makara huta in Ningi town, Ningi LGA.
He, however, pleaded uilty to the charges brought against him
The trial judge, Abdullahi Aliyu Doya, after hearing the statements by witnesses as well as admittance of guilt by the accused person, sentenced the suspect to death by stoning.
His judgment was based on provisions of Section 131, 132 and 133 of the Bauchi State Penal law of 2001.
The court during it first setting on April 2, 2024 adjuned to Thursday April 9, 2024 in which the judgement was delivered.
Recalled that the court had on July 1, 2022 sentenced three men to death by stoning for Sodomy.
