Kano Governor to Appoint Kwankwaso Commissioner

In a likely bid to reshuffle his cabinet, Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf is set to appoint son of his in-law and political godfather, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, as his commissioner.

Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Jibrin Falgore, named Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso and three others as commissioner nominees dispatched to the legislative arm by the state Governor.

Other commissioner-nomineess are Adamu Aliyu Kibiya, Usman Shehu Aliyu, and Abduljabbar Garko.

A personal assistant to Rabiu Kwankwaso, Ibrahim Adam, confirmed the nomination in a Facebook post Tuesday afternoon.

Rabiu Kwankwaso, the father of the nominee is the National leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party and its Presidential candidate in the 2023 election where he finished 4th.

Nigerian politicians are often accused of turning Nigeria’s political ground to hereditary for their children to take power the mantle of leadership after holding bigger positions.

In Kano, former governor, Abdullahi Ganduje has attempted to install his son, Abba Ganduje, to represent Dawakin Tofa/Rimin Gado federal constituency but was defeated by the incumbent.

A former foreign affairs Minister and stalwart in the opposition People’s Democratic Party, Ambassador Aminu Wali, had attempted to have his son become Kano governor in the 2023 presidential election.
