Minimum wage: Bauchi organized Labour says it will not compromise its terms

The Organized Labour in Bauchi State has disclosed that it will not compromise its stand at the on-going Bauchi state Joint Public Service Negotiation Council (JPSNC) meeting.

The Chairman of the State Joint Public Service Negotiation Council (JPSNC), Comrade Abdullahi Ibrahim who stated this in a press statement yesterday assured that the organized labor in the state will never compromise its responsibility of protecting the rights of Bauchi state workers during and after the negotiation.

Speaking on the outcome of the resumed negotiation, Comrade Ibrahim explained that both the labor and government sides are taking into cognisance the interests of both parties in the negotiation.

He disclosed that the ongoing negotiations on the 30,000 Naira new minimum wage with the state government is progressing steadily.

On the 31st December deadline earlier given for the committee to finish all negotiations on the new national minimum wage, the statement expressed hope that positive resolution would be reached by all parties during the next meeting.

While expressing satisfaction with the way and manner the Chairman of the committee is handling its affairs, Comrade Ibrahim called on civil servants in the state to remain calm and fervently pray for the successful conclusion of the meeting.

WilkiTimes reports that the state government committee is headed by Alhaji Ahmed Abubakar Ma’aji, the Head of Civil Service of the state.

Meanwhile, the organized labor is expected to discuss the matter in a crucial meeting next Monday on the consequential adjustment of salaries of civil servants on Grade Levels 7 and above while the JPSNC meeting is expected to resume on Tuesday.
