Para-soccer championship: Katsina draw goalless with Borno

 Katsina state para-soccer team on Sunday in Abuja drew goalless with the Borno Warriors at the ongoing National Para-Soccer Championship.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that in the match played at the Old Parade Ground both teams put up a wonderful performance.

They both fought hard in the game, but they failed to utilise their scoring chances.

Coach of the Katsina team, Auwal Bawa, later told NAN that he was not happy his players could not score any goal.

He said he had mixed feeling about the outcome of the game, adding that they tried to score during the game but it all ended without any success.

“It was a real battle for my players, but our opponents also displayed a wonderful performance in the game.

“My next plan is on how they will be able to score in their subsequent matches.

“Our next game is on Monday, and we will work harder for maximum results.

“In last year’s edition, we came fourth. Now, we hope to do better this year,” he said.

On his part, the coach of Borno Warriors, Alhassan Abdullahi, also said it was a good match in which their players failed to utilise their scoring chances.

“I’m happy that we played our first game against a strong team, and we had a good officiating.

“Now we will work hard to win our next game against the Nasarawa state team on Monday,” he said.

NAN reports that in Monday’s matches, Bauchi state will face Kaduna state while Kano state take on Gombe state in the morning.

Sokoto state will take  on Katsina state, while Borno take on Nasarawa state in the evening.

NAN reports that 10 teams are participating in the event, namely Kano, Kaduna, Bauchi, Zamfara, Gombe, Katsina,  Borno,  Nasarawa, Sokoto and FCT.

The competition, which is the seventh edition of the championship, started on Saturday at the Old Parade Ground and will end on Thursday to mark the World Polio Day.
