Police arraign 2 men over alleged breach of peace in Ekiti

Two men, Shuaibu Ismaila and Yaya Salami, were, on Friday, arraigned before an Ado Ekiti Magistrates’ Court for allegedly causing breach of peace in their neighborhood.


The defendants: Shuaibu, 25 and Yaya, 51, both from Itamo road, Odo-Ado area of Ado Ekiti, and 10 others, now at large, are facing a three-count charge bordering on breach of peace.
They, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.


The Prosecutor, Insp. Johnson Okunade, said that the defendants committed the offence on June 27, at about 10.15 pm. at Itamo road, Odo-Ado area of Ado Ekiti.

He said that the defendants and 10 others, now at large, conspired together and unlawfully entered into the house of one Balogun Oladele, whom Shuaibu accused of taking his manhood.


According to Okunade, the offences are contrary to and punishable under Sections 16(A), 249(d) and 412 of the Criminal Code Acts, Cap. C16, Vol. 1, Laws of Ekiti State of Nigeria, 2012.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Olanike Adegoke, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 each, with one surety each in like sum.

She directed that the sureties must be resident within the jurisdiction of the court and with valid identity cards.
Adegoke, thereafter, adjourned the case till July 29. (NAN)
