Police Nab Two for Snatching Corps Member’s Phone

The Police in Adamawa State have arrested two members of the outlawed Shila group for allegedly snatching a mobile phone and a purse belonging to a corps member in Mubi town.

The suspected Shilla boys were arrested following a complaint by the victim that she was robbed in a street in Mubi North local government area of the state.

The police, in a statement by the spokesperson in Adamawa Sulaiman Yahaya identified the victim, as Paulina Ayuba, who was walking beside the road when she was robbed by the group.

Yahaya said two of the suspects, all of 18 years old, were arrested and the stolen phone was recovered.

“On 10/06/2024, Paulina Ayuba, a corps member, reported to the police that between the hours of 6 to 7 pm, while walking beside the road, in Mubi North Local Government Area, suddenly, four young boys in a tricycle approached her and forcefully snatched her phone and fled”.

“The suspects, Aminu Aliyu,18 Years, popularly known as Digashi, and Salisu Muhammed 18 years, both from Kasuwan Borkono, Mubi, were arrested, while two others escaped arrest. The stolen phone and one tricycle used in committing the crime were recovered as the investigation continues to trace and arrest the fled suspects”, said Sulaiman.

According to him, the suspects will be charged to court for prosecution after completion of the investigation.
