Six years after Professor Ahmed Sarki Fagam served as Returning Officer for the Bauchi South Senatorial District Bye-Election, the Senate of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi (ATBU) elected him to the position of Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration.
Fagam defeated Professor Sama’ila Idi Ningi in a well-contested race. He will serve for a renewable tenure of two years.
Before his election, Professor Fagam was INEC Returning Officer during Bauchi South Bye-Election following the demise of Senator Malam Ali Wakili.
What We Kow About Professor Fagam
Ahmed Sarki Fagam was promoted to full-time professor of Agronomy in 2016 by ATBU. Before his professorial, he served as Associate Professor for three years.
In 1990, ATBU appointed him Farm Officer II. He is a member of six professional bodies. He rose through the ranks to become HOD of Crop Production and Dean Faculty of Agriculture.

Fagam, a native of Dambam LGA, graduated from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria in 1989. Between 1994 to 2001, he obtained an MSc and PhD from ATBU.
In his over three decades of teaching and research, Fagam supervised 15 PhD students and 28 MSc students.
Being a thoroughbred, Fagam published 99 academic articles in different peer-reviewed journals. He also authored 9 technical reports and conference papers.
In 2014, Fagam earned the traditional title of Wazirin Garuza in his native Dambam.
He is happily married with children.
