At least 10 persons were confirmed dead while one person sustained severe injury as a result of collision between a speedy Hummer Bus and a parked trailer in Yanfari village of Taura LGA of Jigawa state.
The passenger bus, conveying 11 people heading to Hadejia from Kano somersaulted after it rammed into a parked trailer, along the busy Kano-Hadejia road, leading to the death of ten persons on the spot.
Confirming the incident, Lawan Shiisu Adam, Police spokesperson in the state, said 10 persons including the driver died on the spot while the injured passenger was taken to hospital and is receiving medical attention.
Adam, said the hummer bus on a night journey driven by Sani Mainsara of Hadejia, hit the trailer parked in the village, upon which it somersaulted, leading to the fatalities recorded.
“The accident occurred when a Toyota Hummer bus with registration number HDJ 631 YDD, driving by one Sani Mainasara ‘m’ age 35yrs of Hadejia LGA, was coming from Kano to Hadejia, conveying eleven (11) passengers, on reaching the scene, the bus hit a parked Trailer with registration number RGN 180 ZC, as a result of which, the vehicle somersaulted”.
“The driver and nine (9) other passengers died on the spot”, he confirmed.
According to him, police operatives attached to Taura Division were immediately deployed to the scene, where they evacuated the victims to Hadejia General Hospital and were confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
