Six Months After, Kano Anti Corruption Commission Still Portrays Ganduje, Balarabe as Governor, Chair

The Kano State antigraft agency, Public Complaints and Anti Corruption Commission (PCACC) has retained the portrait of the former State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, as the state governor on its website instead of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

The PCACC website also portrayed the image of the former acting chairman of the commission, Mahmoud Balarabe, as the Chairman in place of the embattled chairman, Muhyi Magaji who is being arraigned by the Code of Conduct Tribunal for alleged corrupt practices.

It can be recalled that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf took the mantle of leadership from Ganduje on May 29, following his victory in the March 18 gubernatorial election which is now being wrestled by the opposition All Progressive Congress (APC).

Similarly, the current PCACC Chairman, Magaji was reinstated following a court verdict that negated his suspension and subsequent replacement by Governor Ganduje in 2022.

The PCACC website is the public gateway to glimpsing the activities of the commission and from where citizens, journalists and whistleblowers can volunteer information that can support anti-corruption efforts in the commercial state.

The chairman of the commission Muhyi Magaji has been detained by CCT after inviting him for investigation. He was, however, granted bail but WikkiTimes could not ascertain whether he fulfilled the bail conditions.

Efforts to speak to the chairman were unsuccessful but a staff member of the commission who identified himself as Yahaya Tijjani said the display of the former governor and erstwhile boss of the commission was not unconnected with the changes and instability in the commission.

“Honestly, it’s been a while since it has not been updated due to the changes in the leadership. But I believe very soon it will be fixed. I will even remind them today and it will be addressed soon, ” Tijjani told WikkiTimes.
