Ten Days After Declared Missing, Abuja Farmer Found Dead ‘In A Well’

Hussani Aliyu Takuma, the Managing Director of Takuma’s Zoo Farm who went missing on June 2, was found dead yesterday, in a well at Jeda Community, Kuje Area Council, Abuja, according to a police report.

Umar Sambo, the chief superintendent of police and divisional officer at the Kuje Police Divisional Headquarters, said the deceased’s brother, Zakari Hassan Takuma, “of Area 7 Garki Abuja, came to Kuje Police station and reported that on June 2, his brother Hussaini Aliyu Takuma, 32, of the same address, visited his farm at Jeda in Kuje but did not return home.”

The police chief added that detectives upon receipt of the report tracked one 20-year-old Umar Mohammed, a worker of the farm, alongside his friend Ibrahim Yusuf, 18. According to Daily Nigerian, the duo were caught at Kabusa while advancing to Kano with “36 stolen rams and six goats.”

Sambo further noted that the suspects are being investigated following their arrest. Though, a preliminary investigation, Sambo said, showed that the stolen livestock belong to the deceased.

Meanwhile, Takuma’s body was taken to the Kuje General Hospital for an autopsy before a proper burial.

In addition, a 28-year-old man,  Ephraim Mbaiga, also an employee of the farm was arrested in connection to the crime, Adewale Ojele, the Divisional Command Officer 1, (DCO1), revealed.

The case file was assigned to O/C anti kidnapping, FCT Command, on directives of the commissioner of police, Ojele said.

In another development, Inspector Samuel Ochoche said one Usman Sanu, the farm security guard and his wife had fled from the farm and were still yet to be found.

According to Ochoche, the body of the victim was dug up in alliance with the workers of Federal Fire Service in Abuja. 

Corroborating Ocheche’s words, Awwal Panti, a cousin brother to the deceased, disclosed that Takuma’s body was mutilated and dumped in a well.
