Gunmen Abduct Over 40 Sokoto Phone Dealers

Gunmen have abducted over 40 Smart Phone dealers from Sokoto State while on their way to a market in neighbouring Zamfara State.

Reports indicate that the dealers suspected to have been abducted numbered 60. However, about 20 of them were said to have found their routes back safely.

Both Zamfara and Sokoto states in the northwestern part of the country grapple with banditry which later turned into kidnapping and cattle rustling. The Federal government branded the bandits ‘terrorists’ in what appeared to be a strategy to end their activities in the region.

WikkiTimes gathered that the dealers who transact at Bebeji Plaza were abducted shortly after attending the wedding of one of their colleagues between Tureta and Bakura.

They were loaded in a Costa bus where 40 of the dealers were on board while 20 others were in a minibus.

Efforts to get the comments of the Zamfara State Police command proved abortive.
