Three Robbery Suspects Arrested by Volunteer Guards in Benue

The Benue State Benue State Community Volunteer Guards (BSCVGs) have arrested three robbery suspects along the Okpokwu-Ogbadibo Highway.

The suspects, according to the guards, have been terrorising the environment for a long time.

A member of the community said the officers were on patrol before they were alerted to the activities of the robbery suspects.

“The BSCVG members were on patrol at about 8:45 am along Odoba Hill when information was sent to them that the armed men were operating along the boundary between Okpokwu and Ogbadibo LGAs,” he said.

The source also confirmed that the gang had finished operating before the officers went after them.

“The role of the members of the BSCVGs under the present leadership of Austine Enejor has recorded tremendous successes and needs to be commended,” the commissioner said.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Security and Internal Affairs, Chief Joseph Har, also commended the efforts of the volunteers, noting that the improvement since the replacement of the zonal commander has been commendable.

Efforts to speak to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Benue Police Command, Cathrenine Anene, proved abortive as her official line was not connecting. Also a text message sent to her had not been responded at press time.
