Yobe Govt Connects Fifty Communities to National Grid

The Yobe State Government has reconnected over fifty communities in the state to the National Grid years after they were cut-off due to Boko Haram insurgency that ravaged parts of the state.

The reconnected communities which include the 50km Katarko-Goneri 33kv line have collapsed electricity lines thus making life agonizing to the locals, hence the state government decision to reconnected them.

Mustapha Goneri, the General Manager Yobe Rural Electrification Board in an interview with channels television monitored by WikkiTimes said the decision to reconnect the areas is in line with the Mai-Mala Buni’s led administration drive aimed at bringing back to life, the areas hitherto deserted due to insurgency.

According to him, the boar has worked on the 50km Katarko-Gonari 33kva line which connects over fifty communities to the national grid, noting that the reconnection is now completed.

“We have rehabilitated and reactivated the 50km Katarko-Gonari 33kv line which is completed now. Then we were able to extend or electrify all the villages along the line”, said Mustapha.For his part, Isiaka Lawal, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Transport and Energy said with the relative calmness being experienced now, the government is making efforts to restore the vandalized the cables and transformers and the subsequent return of the displaced people.
