Bauchi state government is to Partner the World Bank to improve 1,320 schools in five local government areas of the state.
The state taps into the World Bank’s 2019 schools improvement project grants.
Speaking shortly after presenting a cheque of N500,000 toeach of the benefiting schools, the state governor, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammedpledged to improve the funding of education as part of efforts to tackle the menaceof out of school children in the state.
The governor says his administration was determined torestore primary education in the state through reforms, provision of additionalinfrastructure, rehabilitations and training and retraining of teachers.
The State Coordinator of the World Bank project, MuhammadDatti Umar who listed the benefiting local government areas as Zaki, Shira,Ganjuwa, Katagum Darazo and Toro, said the project was designed to financeminor issues in schools in the areas of renovations, rehabilitation of twindesk and repairs of water points.
He said measures have been taken for financing records ofgrant activities, development of school improvement plan and use of Kobocollect software using global positioning system to capture school basedmanagement Committee to ensure proper utilization of the funds released.
