Over 40 furious State House of Assembly aspirants under the All Progressives Congress, APC in Bauchi State has asked the National Working Committee of the party to order fresh conduct of primary elections in the state.
The aggrieved members in a statement signed by Saleh Umar Nabayi and made available to reporters in Bauchi demanded the headquarters of the APC reimburse them, citing deliberate attempts by the local organising committee of the election, arguing that eleven current APC lawmakers were given a. Automatic ticket at the expense of other contestants who fulfilled all requirements for the primaries.
“We are surprised to hear from the committee that all state constituencies that have serving lawmakers have been given automatic tickets. They said they have received orders from the National Headquarters to give automatic tickets to all serving state assembly members.
“We all obtained forms as required by the constitution and followed all the instructions given by our leaders; we canvassed for support across our constituencies and patiently waited for the day of the primary election.
“We expressed our anger to them that we are not in support of that arrangement. We insisted that elections must be held in all state constituencies, including those with serving members,” the statement read in parts.
He said having spent a lot of money in the electioneering, they are demanding reimbursement from the party.
