Hajiya Aishatu Jibril Dukku, member representing Dukku/Nafada Federal Constituency of Gombe State in the National Assembly, has on Sunday empowered 300 women with N10,000 each.
Speaking at the event held at the Dukku township stadium, Hajiya Dukku said the programme is intended to enhance the domestic businesses of women in the area, assured that the second phase will soon take off.
She said the global economic challenges have pushed a lot of families into penury, urging the beneficiaries to make proper use of the fund.
Dukku applauded Governor Inuwa Yahaya and his wife, Hajiya Asma’u who were present at the occasion for creating an enabling environment for women in the State to make meaningful contributions in the governance of the State, adding that Inuwa’s administration has executed many projects in the constituency.
In his remarks, Governor Inuwa Yahaya assured his administration’s commitment to execute developmental projects in the constituency, stating that the state government will dredge all the water dams in Dukku LG and construct boreholes to reduce water scarcity being faced by the constituents.
He thanked Hajiya Dukku for the gesture and promised to continue working her for the rapid development and wellbeing of the people.
Speaking, the Gombe State First Lady, Hajiya Asma’u Inuwa Yahaya, said the empowerment will go a long way in alleviating the economic problems faced by women considering their position as homemakers and nation builders.
Hajiya Asma’u however admonished the beneficiaries against the misuse of the fund, calling to utilize the fund prudently.
