A Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Kareem Raheem in Maru local government area of Zamfara State has been gunned down by some bandits who attempted to kidnap a businessman.
Raheem was killed alongside a yet to be identified police sergeant and a vigilante, Daily Trust reports.
An anonymous resident told Daily Trust that the criminals invaded the town to Kidnap Alhaji Iliyasu, a businessman in Maru town. It was reported that the businessman’s brother was earlier abducted and released when ransom was paid.
Spokesman for Zamfara Police Command, Muhammad Shehu could not be reached for comment. His lines were switched off and a text sent to him had not been responded to at press time.
