Bauchi FA Chair Advocates Peace, Unity Through Football

Patrick Pascal, the Bauchi State Football Association chairman, has stressed the need to use football to bring peace and unity to the country.

He stated this during the maiden edition of the Peace and Unity Bauchi FA football competition, which was won by Hassla Football club after beating Gana FC of Azare 7-6 on penalties after the regulation time ended 2-2.

While presenting the trophy and cash donation of N250,000 to the winning team Hassla FC and N150,000 to the 2nd position team, Gana FC, Pascal said the aim of organizing the tournament was achieved as it succeeded in building peace and unity among youths across the 20 LGA’s in the state.

He commended the LOC for successfully hosting the 66 teams in two centers of Bauchi and Katagum throughout the period that produced the first, second and third positions.

“We know that there is insecurity in Nigeria and it is the youths that are used to ferment trouble. If these youths are gainfully used in positive directions, this insecurity will reduce.

“So this maiden edition of this tournament is to help in that direction and promote peace and unity. Bauchi is the first point of call and we look to spread this across the nation,” He said.

The chairman of the Local organizing committee, Alhaji Abubakar Audu MaiAuduga, commended Bauchi FA under Pascal’s leadership for initiating the first peace and unity football competition that attracted over 66 teams across the state.
