‘Buhari Govt Is Clueless’ — Bukarti Knocks Presidency Over Insecurity

Audu Bulama Bukarti, a Nigerian human right lawyer has knocked the federal government saying the Muhammadu Buhari-led administration is clueless owing to a revelation by the president’s spokesman, Garba Shehu.

“If you’re in doubt that the Buhari government is clueless, listen up,” Bukarti tweeted yesterday. He referenced Shehu’s revelation to BBC Hausa while speaking on the worsening Nigeria’s insecurity, particularly about the Kaduna-bound train where scores were kidnapped.

Shehu revealed how the federal government met all the demand by the brazen terrorists but failed to release the captives.

Shehu explained that the gang leader demanded the release of his pregnant wife who’s in jail and she was taken to a hospital, where she birthed twins “at taxpayers’ expense and all 3 were freed,” Bukarti said, adding the terror leader refused to free the kidnapped victims and further demanded the release of 6 or 7 members’ children from prison.

He said the government did not only released them, but sent an aircraft from Adamawa where they were detained and delivered them to the terrorists. Yet the victims were not released as the bigwig keeps demanding for ransom.

He continued: “You had their wife and 10 children and you gave up all without taking yours? You’re not dealing with a trustworthy partner, so cash-and-carry should be no brainer. But the Buhari admin thought they could trust terrorists, so they kept giving them before taking anything. Clueless!”

Bukarti lamented how the government was taunted by the terrorists.

“In the end, the terrorists received 11 members through “negotiation”, freed 69 from Kuje by force and made over N1bn in ransom,” he said. “Yet, 31 passengers are still in captivity. Who knows how much more they’ll make? And with all these resources, imagine how big their next attack could be.”
