The Federal Government (FG) has developed a national Policy on Public Building Maintenance to guide relevant stakeholders on effective protection of Public assets under their supervision.
At a stakeholders forum in Abuja to review the document, the minister of Power Works And Housing, Babatunde Fashola said the essence is to ensure that public buildings continue to serve their intended purposes for longer period as well as guarantee safety, health and comfort for usage.
Represented by the permanent secretary of the ministry, Muhammed Bukar, Mr Fashola observed that effective management of infrastructural assets was critical to their continuous existence.
He said in view of the huge resources the present administration has committed in the construction of houses alongside some federal secretariat in six states and maintenance of existing once, it is proper to come up with policy guidelines to safeguard public investment nationwide.
