Gombe state Govt to engage FG for additional fire fighter trucks

Gombe state Government has expressed its resolve to engage the Federal Fire Service to procure more fire fighter trucks with a view to reaching all the eleven Local Government Areas of the state with fire fighting services.

Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya who gave the indication yesterday while speaking at the Launching of some fire fighting equipment said the procurement of the equipment is in fulfillment of his government’s commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of the citizens.

The Governor who was represented by the Commissioner for Special Duties in the state, Barrister Mela Audu Nunghe said, “we intend to partner the federal government to procure additional fire fighting equipment and facilities to strengthen the fire service for quick and effective response to emergencies”.

While commending the Fire Service Officers for their diligence and sacrifice, the Governor enjoined them to live up to expectations, saying that government will continue to improve their working condition and reward excellence.

He appealed to the people of the state to always cooperate with the officers and men of the fire service by promptly reporting fire and disaster cases for action, adding that the state is now having a first class fire fighting equipment to tackle emergency incidents.

He warned staff of the fire service to ensure proper and effective use of the facilities as abuse will be punished accordingly.

Speaking earlier, the Director, State Fire Service, Bakari Majidadi appreciated the Governor for equipping the service and assured that with such motivation, fire fighting services would be taken to greater heights.

WikkiTimes correspondent reports that the items launched included compound fumes used in fighting oil related incidents, rescue lines, safety kits, Uniforms among others.
