‘Govt Officials, Terror Bigwigs, Chiefs To Grace Coronation Of Bandits’ Leader In Zamfara’

Top government officials in Zamfara State including terror leaders and traditional chiefs will grace the coronation of Ado Alieru, a bandits’ leader terrorising the state, as the new Sarkin Fulani in Yandoto Emirate.

The turbaning ceremony is today, according to HumAngle.

Alhaji Aliyu Garba Marafa, emir of Yandoto and Chairman, Council of Chiefs of ‘Yandoto Emirate Council in Zamfara State, will confer the chieftaincy title on Alieru this morning, WikkiTimes learnt.

The event was publicised yesterday at Yandoto JIBWIS Jumuat Mosque, “shortly after the congregational prayer of the Muslim faithful in the Emirate.”

Malam Bello Yusuf, the secretary of the Emirate Council, confirmed the  development.

According to HumAngle, JIBWIS Mosque Committee in the emirate while announcing the event, warned youths to stay away from the gathering, if they are armed.

Although no hint about the government officials that will grace the event, but some the terror leaders expected to show up include Ali Zakwai, Dogo Gide, Kachalla Turji, Danboko, Sanata, Isuhu Yelo, Damina, Mai Shamuwa, and Shadari among others.

Yandoto Emirate Council was carved out of the Tsafe Emirate Council by the Zamfara State Government on May 18, 2022, according to HumAngle. The Council was also signed into law along with the Bazai Emirate by the Zamfara State House of Assembly, making it the 19th Emirate Council in the state. 

The two Emirates created under the new law were Yandoton Daji Emirate with a second-class Emir created out of the present Tsafe Emirate in the state. It consists of Yandoton Daji, Keta, Kizara, Bawa Kwanga, Kwaren Ganuwa, Danjibga, and Kuncin Kalgo districts with Headquarters at Birnin Yandoto, the newspaper noted, adding, the second Emirate is Bazai, also with a second-class Emir that comprises Bazai, Jangeru, Galadi, Katuru, Birnin Yaro, Tungar Kaho, and Tubali districts with headquarters at Jangeru.

“You need to contact the emirate council on this traditional title matters, not we the Police,” advised Mohammed Shehu, the police spokesman in Zamfara. “Call us on criminal cases or security-related issues, please.”

Alternatively, the police spokesman mentioned the Zamfara State Directorate of Chieftaincy Affairs or its Special Advisor to have appropriate response to the matter.

Zamfara is one of the states acutely hit by banditry. Recently, the state government said 500 gun license forms have been distributed to 19 emirates in the state, advising residents to pick arms against marauding bandits.
