WikkiTimes recalls that the former Kano State governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, had in 2020 created four other emirates of Bichi, Gaya, Rano and Karaye from the unified Kano Emirate.

In a letter dated 5th February 2024 and addressed to the Assembly, the Group argued that reversing the fragmentation of the emirate and return of Sanusi would bring unity, peace and harmonious existence to the state.

Dala FM Reports that the group writes the letter demanding for review of the Kano State Emirate Council Law, “We believe if the emirates are reunited into a single emirate, that will bring development to the people of Kano, ” the letter said.

The Group insisted that it respected the constitutional right of the legislative arm in the state to make or amend laws relating to the emirates in the state.

WikkiTimes could not ascertain the position of the Kano State government on the issue as the spokesman for the state governor, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa did not respond to the enquiry.
