Kidnapper Begs Kano Govt To Hang Him For killing His Victim

A suspect who kidnapped and later killed and buried his victim (a boy) in a farm has pleaded with the Kano state government to kill him by hanging.

In an audiovisual story aired by Liberty Television, the suspect who spoke in Hausa said, he allegedly kidnapped the boy to get money out of it.

He said, after he couldn’t get the money and there was no place for him to keep the victim, he decided to kill him.

“I kidnapped him in order to get money and there was no place for me to house him, that’s why I killed and buried him in the farm”, he said.

“I have never done it before. I am pleading with the Kano state government to please sentence me to death. They should kill me by hanging in public”, the suspect told journalists in the video.

The suspect who said he has never engage in the criminal act before, begged the victim’s father to forgive him.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Kano state police command, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa had while parading the suspect said the incident took place in the bush at Hayin Gwarmai in Kwanan Dan Gworma of Bebeji local government area, Kano state.

He said that the arrest of the suspect followed a report to the police by one Alhaji Kabiru that his son was kidnapped and that the suspect asked him to pay N1.3 m as ransom.

DSP Kiyawa said that victim’s father told police that he was called on phone on 9th November, 2020 that his son has been kidnapped, that he should pay the ransom.

The PPRO who did not mention the name or age of the suspect and that of the victim said that the suspect also demanded N20,000 MTN recharge card from the father of the victim.

DSP Kiyawa said after the receipt of the complaint, his boss, the Kano state commissioner of police, Habu Sani immediately deployed men of the operation Puff Adder to rescue the boy and arrest the suspects.

According to him, “operation Puff Adder swung into action and succeeded in arresting this young man you are seeing now after two weeks of man-hunt”.

“The suspect has confessed to us that he actually kidnapped the boy on the 9th of November 2020. He said, after realising that he has no where to host him, he decided to strangulate his neck till he died”, the PPRO further explained.
