Ningi Emir Blasts JED Over Power Outage

The Emir of Ningi, Alh (Dr.) Yunusa Muhammadu Danyaya, has condemned the poor handling of electricity by officials of Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JED) in Ningi local Government Area.

Alh Danyaya blasted JED officials when he summoned them to his palace over persistent power outage in Ningi town.

WikkkTimes reports that Ningi town has been without electricity for three consecutive months.

The monarch expressed frustration over the frequent power outages occasioned by negligence, stating that Ningi deserves better electricity supply due to its population, commercial activities and history.

 He also bemoaned that it is alleged that some unpatriotic JED staff in the area stole cables from transformers, further worsening the situation.

The traditional ruler lamented that he had invested over five million Naira to improve electricity in Ningi, but alleged that absence of support from JED was hindering progress.

 He urged residents to be vigilant and cursed those stealing electrical equipment.

Responding, the distribution manager JED Ningi Station, Sani Ya’u Sallau, noted that they are disturbed the theft of cables and other electrical appliances in Ningi town.

 He said they have since reported the issue to the police which has commenced investigation to find the culprit.

He assured the emir that all efforts are on top gear to address the problem while denying the allegations leveled against them.

He narrated “Unknown persons have stolen over 2,500 meters of cables wires between Gadar Maiwa and Mulka, over 1,500 meters between Gadar Maiwa and Yelwan Burji 2, over 3000 meters between Kula and Kafin Madaki, as well as about 1,500 meters between Kafin Madaki and Huturu all along Ningi to Bauchi Road.”

According to the manager, these activities caused serious setbacks to the smooth operations of the Company in the area.
