Peter Mbah, gubernatorial candidate for Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been named winner of last Saturday’s polls.
Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared him winner after he polled 160,895 votes to defeat Labour Party’s Chijioke Edeoga who scored 157,552 votes.
Announcing the result, Prof Maduebibisi Ofo-Iwe, Vice Chancellor of the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike, said: “That Mbah Peter Ndubuisi of Peoples Democratic Party, having satisfied the requirement of the law is hereby declared the winner and returned elected.”
Although, it was speculated that Labour Party will win Enugu just like it did in Abia where Alex Otti was declared winner.
Earlier, INEC suspended collation in the states and summoned the key officials to Abuja. Yesterday, the commission assured Nigerians that the final results would be declared within hours, reports Daily Trust.
