Russia vs Ukraine: 1,284 Nigerian Evacuees Arrive Home Thursday

The Federal Government has stated that the first batch of Nigerians Evacuees from Ukraine numbering 1284 persons will arrive home tomorrow Thursday.

In a Press Statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Amb. Gabriel Aduda, noted that the Max Air to Romania will pick 560 persons, Airpeace to Polland 364 persons and Air Peace to Hungry 360 persons.

“Furtherance to our effort to evacuate Nigerians from the neighboring countries surrounding Ukraine, we can confirm that chattered flights will depart on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 to pick up Nigerians Evacuees back home.

“The capacity and route of the Airline are as follows; Max Air to Romania 560 persons, Airpeace to Polland 364 persons and Air Peace to Hungry 360 persons. The first batch of the evacuees is expected to arrive Nigeria on Thursday, March 3, 2022”. The statement read.

The statement also assured Nigerians that the Federal Government is working hard to ensure that all citizens there are brought back home safely.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs had on Sunday, February 27 announced in a statement that Hungary and Romania have approved visa-free access to all Nigerians coming from Ukraine. There are about 5,600 Nigerian students in Ukraine, and a total of around 8,000 Nigerians in all.

Countries neighboring Ukraine like Polland, Hungry and Romania have so far received about 1300 Nigerian evacuees coming from Ukraine.
