The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has instructed Hudu Yunusa Ari, Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Adamawa State, to stay away from its office.
This was conveyed in a letter on Monday signed by Rose Oriaran-Anthony, the commission’s secretary.
The embattled REC had declared All Progressives Congress’ Aishatu Dahiru Binani, as the governor-elect of Adamawa State. At the time, results were still being collated.
“I hereby convey the Commission’s decision that you (Barr. Hudu Yunusa Ari), Resident Electoral Commissioner, Adamawa State should stay away from the Commission’s office in Adamawa State immediately until further notice.
“The Administrative Secretary has been directed to take full charge of INEC, Adamawa State with immediate effect,” INEC stated.
