Still On State Of Political parties In Bauchi

By Dr. Wada Abdullahi

Bauchi is the only state among the 36 states of the Federal Republic of Nigeria with identical philosophy in political hypothetical phenomena in my view. It is the first state that broke the jinx of all manipulative manoeuvres and yet succeeded in the political arena despite the long history of business as usual.

Now it is clear that there is no political party that can single-handedly dominate either the minds or the souls of the electorates again going forward. Neither for the structural purposes nor for the ideological concepts, to become a semi-god for the Pearl of Tourism is no longer practicable.

There are 4 political parties in existence in Bauchi state which occupy seats via the electoral processes in the 2019 General Elections; these are: All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) and the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) and now the terrain is getting even dicier.

Political permutations and Combinations, Differential and Integral Calculus, Algebraic expressions, Arithmetic and Logical operations with all statistical analysis indicate that; the PRP will become very strong by leading other parties with wide merging and lunitidal intervals, all things being equal.

All Progressives Congress (APC)

APC is the ruling party of Nigeria, that is; at the centre, but yet failed to deliver the governorship seat in Bauchi state, due to some internal crises that emanated within the party during the prelude to the 2019 general elections, and even though the incumbent governor at that time was from the same party (APC), eyeing and hoping to be re-elected for the second term in office, his apparent failure to match the expectations of the electorates became his waterloo in the end.

The current situation of APC at various state levels is alerting very serious jeopardy of its chances in a similar fashion to the incident that happened in Zamfara State, before, during and after the 2019 general elections. Because, the party has conducted two parallel state congresses, on the same date at different venues and each of the candidates is bragging about the success and declaring himself as a winner and successful chairman of APC in Bauchi State. Most of the candidates from the APC are planning and consulting other political parties, especially the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) for their plan B alternative. They are about to troop into PRP to contest, as the only reliable optional political party with concrete political structures and the capability of winning the elections going by the antecedent.

Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP)

PDP is the ruling party in Bauchi State at the moment with an incapacitated State Executive Committee, the head, that is the governor is very weak in terms of governance and denies the social and economic obligations of the citizens. During his campaigns, he promised a lot of democratic goodies, but once elected, he failed to live up to the expectations built by his numerous campaign promises. Among which; he promised to pay the pending gratuities of the retirees, which according to him, the previous governments refuse to pay.

He failed in fulfilling this promise and to add insult to injury, he failed to pay even their monthly pensions. He also promised to pay the annual leave allowances of the civil servants, but today his government is not paying even their monthly salaries. He also refused intentionally to implement the minimum wage arrears of #30,000 which is a policy for all tiers of governments since 18th April 2018.

PRP

The PRP had taken a bold step by presenting it to the press via a conference and Threatening to take legal action in the court of law, but the insensitive government had refused to receive sense.
Nowadays, there is no significant human or infrastructural developments taking place in any part of the state on the basis of equity, but a select few in selective locations. He abandoned the capital projects, insisting on the demolition of the properties of the citizens or perceived political opponents without following the due process of law as enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (Adequate Compensation).

In the political playground, the governor dominated and monopolised their party, PDP. Whereby has selected some candidates and promised to them that; they are the only ones to scale the primaries to become the aspirants and flag bearers of the party. Many PDP members are negotiating with PRP stakeholders also being the Political Noah’s Ark.

There is a strong signalling alert that; in the 2023 general elections, the PRP will win most of the State House of Assemblies, the Federal House of Representatives, the Senate and the Governorship seats. PRP is the only third force party hoping to win most of the seats in Nigeria including the presidential slot because people understand that PRP is the only party for the masses, true and true.

Finally, I may like to use this opportunity to call on the Executive members of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) from National, State, Local Government, Ward and Branch levels to accept all good minded people decamping and trooping into the party and give them the total support they may need by encouraging them with whole sorts of advice and a chance to pick the nomination forms and participate in the primary elections.

I hope the socialists will conduct free and fair primary elections whereby they will distance themselves from collecting some tokens from candidates with the intentions of rigging the results in their favour and in the end declaring the competent candidates as the losers and the vice versa.
