Taraba FRSC Kicks Off Ember Months Road Safety Campaign

 The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), on Saturday, commenced the 2021 “Ember Months” campaign with a call on motorists to avoid overloading and speeding, as well as night travel.

Selina Williams, Taraba Sector Commander of the FRSC, gave the charge at the launch of the campaign in Jalingo.

Williams said the campaign, with the theme; ‘Maintain Safe Speed, Avoid Night Travels and Enjoy Quality Road Experience”, was aimed at reducing fatal crashes during the period, usually characterised by increased vehicular movement.

“The campaign will help make our roads safer for the public,” she said.

Gov Darius Ishaku of Taraba, who performed the ceremony, told stakeholders to take the public education campaign seriously, to minimise accidents in the state.

Ishaku, who was represented by Mr Felix Manthy, Director, Taraba Board of internal Revenue, commended the FRSC for its concerted efforts, aimed at enhancing the safety of the roads.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that free medical check-ups and eye tests were conducted on drivers and motorists at the event by teams of medical personnel from Specialist Hospital and the Police Clinic in Jalingo.

NAN also reports that the event was attended by security agencies, including the police and other paramilitary outfits, transports unions and other stakeholders. (NAN)
