Dr. Langa Hassan Bangcy Bangunji, (JP) is a popular educationist, academician and lecturer who has held various positions in educational sector in Nigeria and currently, Provost of College of Education, Billiri, Gombe.
He was born on 10th October, 1966, at Shongom Local Government Area of Gombe State where he attended Bangunji Primary School in 1974-1980 and G.S.S.Cham in 1980-1982 and G.S.S.S Gombe 1982-1984 for his secondary education.
Desirous of acquiring higher education and determined to reach the pinnacle of his God’s ordained destiny in life, Dr Bangunji proceeded to the Prestigious Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, to acquire B. Tech (Applied Physics) degree from 1984- 1990, T.T.C (Science) from 1992- 1993 from the Federal College of Education (Technical), Gombe, and Post Graduate Diploma (PGD) (Electrical/ Electronics) from the same A.T.B.U, Bauchi from 1997-1998.
Like Ben Carson in his book titled ‘Gifted hands’, when he quoted his mother admonishing him saying; ‘if you can read, honey, you can learn just about anything you want to know, the doors of the world are open to people who can read, and my boys are going to be successful in life, because they’re going to be the best readers in the school’, this simple statement applies to Dr. Langa H.B.Bangunji who is dedicated, committed and desirous to be successful in life by pursuing education despite its challenges and has made it today.
The Provost had General Certificate in Computing in 2003 from F.C.E. (Tech), Gombe, M.Tech (Energy Physics) from F.U.T Yola in 2007 and Ph.D (Energy Physics) from MAUTECH, Yola in 2015.
However, this distinguished scholar and an administrator had fifteen (15) publications to his credit and has served the Gombe State Government as Commissioner for Water Resources and Environment from 1999-2003, Commissioner for Health and human Services, Commissioner of Works and Housing and Commissioner for Women Affairs and Youth Development respectively.
This astute educationist was a lecturer at F.C.E(T), Gombe, H.O.D (Physics) at the same College, Coordinator, Degree Programme, School of Science, Dean, School of Science, Deputy Director, Academic Planning & Quality Assurance, Director, Academic Planning& Quality Assurance Unit all are in the Federal College of Education (Technical) Gombe before his appointment as the Provost of the newly established College of Education, Billiri by the immediate Governor of the State, Dr. Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo as the first substantive Chief Executive Officer of the College in 2017 to date because of his track records of accomplishment.
Dr. Langa H.B.Bangunji has travelled widely to many countries which included Brazil, Israel, Lesotho, Washington D.C. Manchester Business School, University of Manchester, Uk, and had served in various capacities and also had distinguished himself in various position of responsibilities such as member, College Committee to investigate the loss of the hearth motor F.C.E (T), Gombe, Member, College Committee for the creation of the School of General Studies, Member, College Loans Committee, F.C.E (T), Gombe, Chief Whip, Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union, (COEASU), Secretary, F.C.E. (T) Multipurpose Co-Operative Society and Chairman F.C.E (T), Multipurpose Co-Operative Society, Gombe.
Other services rendered to humanity in course of his sojourn into the academic community and State Executive Council included the Secretary-General, Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union, (COEASU), F.C.E. (T), Gombe, Member College of Academic Board of F.C.E (T), Gombe, Member, National Council on Water Resources, Member, National Council on Environment, Member, Presidential Committee on Completion of Dadin-Kowa Hydro, Gombe, Member, Presidential Committee on Establishment of Shelter belt and member, Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) respectively.
This gentleman of inestimable valour is an asset not only to the people of Gombe State but also to the country at large considering his volume of repository of knowledge, vast experience, candour and intimidating achievements to the upliftment of human race to the next level, will no doubt, convinced doubting Thomases that the doors of this world are truly open to those who can read like Dr. Langa H.B.Bangunji, JP.

The Provost has served in various sensitive positions in the Federal College of Education (Technical) Gombe like a golden fish he has no hiding place in the matter involving management, supervision and coordination of activities in tertiary Institution like the F.C.E.(T), and now College of Education, Billri, in Gombe State.
Dr Langa H.B. Bangunji was the Chairman, Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for a 2-day Workshop organized by Research & Development Unit of F.C.E (T) Gombe on :Techniques and Skills of Writing and Publishing in High Impact Journals ISI/ WoS 18th-19 July, 2017, Chairman, Local organizing Committee (LOC) for the 6th National Conference organized by Research & Development Unit of F.C.E (T) Gombe, 24th April, 2017 and served as member in so many ad-hoc committees in F.C.E (T) Gombe from 1992 to date.

The Provost of the College of Education, Billri, is a member of many professional bodies among which is member, Science Teachers’ Association of Nigeria (STAN), Member, Nigerian Institute of Physics (NIP) and Member, International Research & Development Institute (IRDI) among others.
He has many traditional awards including Dan Masanin Bangunji by District Head of Bangunji in 2000, Dan Ruwatun Dadiya by Dadiya Traditional Council, 1999, Sarkin Zangon Kaltungo by Kaltungo Chiefdom, 2000, Merit Award by Christian Music Association, 2003 and Merit Award by College Management 2008.
His hobbies are Reading and playing Badminton and he is married and blessed with five children
