Dr Jamil Isyaku Gwamna (the Sardaunan Gombe) has formally declared interest to contest the Gombe State governorship seat on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the party he rejoined barely thirty days back.
Gwamna, the former MD and CEO of Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), while addressing journalists in Gombe stated that he was on a rescue mission in the State to deliver the people of the state from the hardship being experienced due lack of good leadership by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He said his drive was to harness the state’s resources, explaining that “If democracy is the government of the people by the people and for the people, then the resources must be managed in a way to benefit the people.
“I am here to serve and not to be served. I have empowered many youth and women with my personal resources and I know I can do more with the resources of the state to improve on the living standard of Gombe people”.
“My team come 2023, by Allah’s Grace we will make Gombe great again and resume the development and massive infrastructure that the PDP had brought to Gombe State.”
Dr. Gwamna maintained that “2023 is crucial and Gombe State cannot continue with a failed administration that is suffocating the people, hence all hands must be on deck to bring in fresh air to Gombe State.”
WikkiTimes recalled that Dr Gwamna dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress APC on 23 February and joined the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in his bid to contest Gombe State gubernatorial seat in 2023.
