APC’s Idris Wins Kebbi Guber Rerun Polls

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Nasir Idria, as the winner of the rerun election held yesterday.

The commission had declared the March 18th election inconclusive after several polling units’ results were cancelled.

The cancelled votes were more than the margin of victory between APC’s Idris, who polled 388,358 votes and Peoples Democratic Party’s Maj. Gen. Mohammed Bande (rtd) who scored 342,980 votes.

Professor Yusuf Sa’idu of Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto, the Returning Officer of the election, while declaring the winner, said: “We aggregated the total number of collected PVCs in polling units where elections were cancelled and it came to a total of 91,829. And when we checked the results, the two leading political parties in this contest, APC and PDP polled 388,258 and 342,980 votes respectively. When we look at the difference, it stands at 45,278.” 

The don, on Sunday afternoon, said Idris polled a total of 409, 225 votes while his closest rival Bande scored 360, 940 votes.
