The Global Investigative Journalism Conference (GIJC) Fellowship calls for Journalists to apply for fully funded journalism training to be held in Gothenburg, Sweden in 2023.
The conference is part of the seminal international event in investigative journalism, featuring practical panels and workshops on the latest investigative techniques, data analysis, online research, cross-border collaboration, and more by the best journalists in the field.

GIJC has since 2001, trained over 8,000 reporters,sparked headline-making collaborations, and spread investigative reporting worldwide.
For 2023, the centre sets to host and train over 150 fellows from developing and disenfranchised countries.
“With the support of their sponsors and partners, the 2023 Global Investigative Journalism Conference is offering more than 150 fellowships to both established and promising journalists in developing and transitioning countries, and for journalists from disenfranchised communities, to participate in this prestigious event”, the portal added.
GIJC noted that the 2023 conference is competitively keen, urging the applicant to convince the sponsors that he will make great use of the training to be offered.

ELIGIBILITY
The application is open to full-time print, online, television, video, radio, documentary, and multimedia journalists in developing or transitioning countries whose standard of living, income, economic and industrial development remain more or less below average, while experience in investigative or data journalism is an added advantage.
REQUIREMENTS
A Fellow is required to either produce a story directly related to GIJC23 or give a presentation based on the knowledge gained at GIJC23 to colleagues or the journalism community at large.
He would also be expected to submit his application in English and be knowledgeable in the language, as most conference panels and workshops will be conducted in English.
BENEFITS
Round-trip airfare to Gothenburg, Sweden, hotel room for four nights, transport between Gothenburg-Landvetter Airport and the conference hotel, reception dinner, breakfast and lunch on conference days, award ceremony dinner, as well as conference registration fee are some of the benefits for successful fellows.

However, the fellowship does not include a per diem, visa fees, or transport to and from the fellow’s home country airport, GIJC noted.
Prospective beneficiaries are required to submit their applications no later than February 28, 2023, as successful ones will be notified via email by May 1.
