COVID-19: Case tracing ongoing in Bauchi state

The Bauchi state ministry of health says case tracing of the coronavirus is still ongoing in the state.

The State commissioner for health Dr Ali Maigoro told newsmen in Bauchi that the case tracing will enable them trace those who have primary contact with confirmed cases who have tested positive of the virus.

He said the case tracing will enable them collect samples of blood for onward transmission into the National Centre for Disease control for testing.

The commissioner said so far only two cases have tested positive of the virus in Bauchi state—they were the state governor, Bala Mohammed and a close friend of his.

The second case according to the commissioner is a 62 year old man and friend of the first patient (Governor Bala Mohammed).

He said 48 samples were taken out of which two were positive, 37 negative while nine others were still waiting for results.

He said the result of the nine cases will be available later on Friday.
