Despite Covid-19, Women still access CBS services in Bauchi

Despite the challenges posed by the dreaded coronavirus in Bauchi State, women of reproductive age still access Child Birth Spacing services in Bauchi metropolis.

Fatima Hassan, a mother of six who spoke to WikkiTimes at Yelwa domiciliary in Bauchi metropolis said that the panic caused by Coronavirus pandemic has not affected the normal routine at the hospital where women access services on family planning without much problems.

“I was thinking that because of COVID-19 pandemic, we may face difficulties accessing some services, but that is not the case here”, she said.

WikkiTimes reports that most of the facilities visited were crowded with large turnout of women who were trooped in numbers to access different services associated family planning and other medical needs.

Our correspondent reports that at Bayan Fada PCH, men were seen accompanying their wives to receive CBS services.

“My husband is very supportive and it’s with his consent that I came here to get some family planning services”, said Fatima Hassan.

Adamu Umar, a 28 year father who also accompanied his wife to a facility said “people are no longer ignorant of family methods, and that is why we feel obligated to support and sometimes accompany the women to access some of these services, because it’s in our best interest to do that.”

Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to Journalists called on government to sustain the provision of family planning commodities; arguing that their availability will encourage more women to access medical services.
