Four Persons in Jigawa Police Net for Phone Snatching, Generator Theft

The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested Saidu Suleiman, Tijjani Garba and Auwal Muhammad of Hadejia town for allegedly snatching Android phones in a filling station in Jigawa State.

The suspects were arrested for allegedly sneaking into A.A. Mai Doki filling station in Auyo LGA and carted away four Android phones belonging to one Rabi’u Maigoro.

Besides snatching android phones, the suspects, according to the police, were also accused of stealing a motorcycle in Hadejia LGA.

A press statement by DSP Lawan Shi’isu Adam, Police Public Relations Officer for Jigawa State Police Command, revealed that the Suspects were arrested by operatives attached to Auyo Division in possession of an unlicensed motorcycle and four android phones suspected to be stolen.

“That on 20/10/2023, detectives attached to Auyo Divisional Headquarters nabbed one Saidu Suleiman ‘m’, age 20 of NTA, Tijjani Garba ‘m’, age 19 years of Kwanar Madawaki, and Auwal Muhammad ‘m’ age 18yrs of Kasuwar Kuda all of Hadejia LGA in possession of four Android Phones strongly suspected to be stolen alongside operational motorcycle Daylong without registration number and handed over the suspects to Crime branch for discreet investigation,” he said.

According to Adam, upon investigation, the suspects revealed that they conspired and stole the phones at A.A. Mai Doki filling station in Auyo LGA, adding that further investigation revealed that the stolen phones belonged to one Rabiu Maigoro ‘m’.

“Suspects confessed to the commission of the crime allegedly against them and will be charged to court for prosecution upon completion of the investigation”, added the statement.

In a related development, the Jigawa Police have arrested 18-year-old Ya’u Ado of Kiyawa town for allegedly trespassing into a residential area and stealing a tiger generator, watering generator and pipes.

The statement said the case was reported at Kiyawa Police Station by one Kamalu Saleh of Sabuwar Unguwa quarters Kiyawa on October 21st that some persons had trespassed into his shop and stole a watering generator, tiger generator, and pipes.

The statement added that Upon receipt of the report, a surveillance squad attached to Kiyawa Division swung into action and on 21/10/2023 at about 1900hrs, one Ya’u Ado ‘m’ age 18yrs of Sabuwar Unguwa quarters was arrested in possession of the stolen Tiger Generator and he confessed to have stolen the item.
