Jigawa: Lawmaker Supports 1,800 Farmers With Fertilizer

 Makki Abubakar (APC/Malammadori/Kaugama) Federal Constituency in Jigawa, has supported 1,800 farmers with fertilizer to boost food production.

The Information Officer in charge of Malammadori Local Government Area, Alhaji Musa Muhammad, announced this in a statement on Sunday.

Muhammad said each of the farmers was given either a bag of NPK or Urea fertilizer, depending on his choice.

He said the items were distributed on Saturday at Kaugama town, by Mr Sani Sale, a member representing Kaugama Constituency in Jigawa State House of Assembly, who represented Abubakar.

“No fewer than 1,800 peasant farmers have benefited from free fertilizer in Malammadori and Kaugama federal constituencies procured by the member representing Malammadori and Kaugama, Dr. Makki Abubakar.

“The fertilizer, NPK and Urea, was distributed to farmers at each of the 11 wards of the constituency,” Muhammad said.

He said that the Chairmen Malammadori and Kaugama councils, Hussain Umar and Idris Mati, respectively, commended the lawmaker for the kind gesture.

The information officer quoted Umar as saying that the gesture will enhance food sufficiency among rural communities.

According to him, the council boss also urged the beneficiaries to ensure judicious use of the commodity to enhance agricultural production for a bumper harvest.

Muhammad further quoted the Chairman Of All Farmers Association Of Nigeria (AFAN), Malammadori chapter, Alhaji Musa Maiguna, as having commended the lawmaker for supporting the real-time farmers at the grassroots.

“AFAN is grateful to the member representing our constituencies for letting real farmers at urban and rural treas to enjoy the dividends of democracy in the agricultural sector,” Muhammad quoted the AFAN chairman as saying.

Malam Danlami Lakwafi, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, said the assistance came at the right time as it will improve farming activities in the area. (NAN)
