Alhaji Nasiru Abubakar Nono (Wazirin Nono), the former Speaker of the Gombe State House of Assembly is dead.
The former lawmaker died as a result of a fatal auto crash along Bauch-Jos road on Thursday, according to reports.
Alhaji Nono emerged as the Speaker of the Gombe State House of Assembly in 2015 during the administration of Alhaji Hassan Dankwambo.
The ex-lawmaker could be remembered when one of the members of the house from the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) allegedly whisked away the mace in a political brawl that engulfed the House in 2018.
The political fuss transpired when the aggrieved members of the APC failed to change the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) leadership in the house under the late Alhaji Nono.
It took at least a day before the mace which is the symbol of authority of the legislative house to be recovered by the police in the state.
