Why Adamawa APC Suspended SGF, Boss Mustapha

All Progressives Congress in Gwadabawa Ward of the Yola North local council, Adamawa State has stated why it indefinitely suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha.

Mainly, the SGF was suspended for losing his polling unit to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the presidential and governorship polls.

The executives of the ward, while announcing the suspension at a press conference in Yola, capital city of Adamawa, said the SGF was not committed to APC’s victory at the presidential and governorship elections.

They explained that the indefinite suspension followed complaints lodged from his ward, alleging that Mustapha did not work for the victory of the party during the exercise.

Contrarily, the State Working Committee of APC under the leadership of the acting Chairman, Chief Samaila Tadawus,  declared the announcement as “unconstitutional, null and void and of no effect.”

The SWC directed the party executive committee in Yola North to constitute a disciplinary committee to immediately investigate and recommend appropriate action.

While addressing journalists, Dr Raymond Chidama, APC’s Secretary in Adamawa, said those who initiated the SGF’s suspension were being sponsored by opposition elements within the party with malicious intent.

“We hereby state clearly that such suspension is unconstitutional, null and void and is of no effect because the state working committee has warned the ward executives in the past to desist from this acts of targeting elders of the party and disregarding constitutional provisions, appropriate sanctions will be applied after thorough investigations,” Chidama said.

Adamawa is the home state of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the PDP who comfortably defeated APC’s Bola Tinubu in Adamawa by a wide margin in the February 25th presidential election.

Atiku had 417,611 votes as against Tinubu’s 182,881 votes, while Labour Party’s Peter Obi got 105,645 votes and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) came a distant fourth with 8,006.

In the governorship election held on March 18, which was declared inconclusive by INEC, the incumbent, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of the PDP polled 421,524 while APC’s Aishatu Dahiru Binani scored 390, 275 votes.
