KAROTA Takes Swift Action Against Roadblock Traders, Issues 48-Hour Eviction Ultimatum

In a bid to tackle traffic disruptions, the Kano State Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA) has given traders along Kurna Babban Layi and Kurna Yandoma fly-overs a stern 48-hour ultimatum to clear the area.

The agency’s Chairman, Engr. Faisal Mahmoud Kabir, expressed frustration during an on-the-spot assessment, highlighting the reckless obstruction of traffic caused by traders showcasing their merchandise on the flyovers.

Engr. Kabir, represented by Director Special Duties, Tasi’u Gambo, emphasised the influx of complaints from commuters and residents regarding road blockages.

The measure was enacted to ensure the safety of both traders and other road users.

“These flyovers are not meant for displaying wares. You have 48 hours to vacate this place,” he declared sternly during his address to the traders.

What’s more, he lamented that traders had commandeered the roads, imposing unwarranted hardships on motorists.

The 48-hour ultimatum serves as a decisive response to reclaim the designated traffic spaces for their intended purpose.

In a parallel effort, the agency boss visited Kasuwar Rimi, engaging with traders to raise awareness about the detrimental impact of blocking major roads for commercial displays.

The proactive sensitisation aimed to encourage traders to refrain from impeding traffic flow with their wares, fostering a more efficient and secure road environment.
