Protest Erupts at N’Assembly Over Kaduna Village Bombing

A number of protesters have forcefully entered the National Assembly in Abuja, demanding justice in response to the tragic bombing of a village in Kaduna State last Sunday.

The demonstrators, who took over the entrance gate for over two hours, issued a stern challenge to Minister of Defence, Abubakar Badaru, urging him to fulfill his responsibilities or step down.

The incident stemmed from an air strike aimed at rooting out terrorists, inadvertently striking civilians during a religious celebration in Tudun Biri on Sunday night, according to reports by WikkiTimes.

As the gravity of the situation unfolded, the death toll surged to 120, a figure confirmed by Amnesty International officials who visited the affected villages.

Nasir Ishaku, the leader of the protesters representing the National Youth Council of Nigeria, North West Zone, and Arewa Youth Movement, spoke passionately about the urgent need for justice.

Addressing the media, he emphasised the deteriorating security situation in Nigeria, particularly in the North, and pointed fingers at Minister Badaru.

“For those who have eyes to see, let them see well, and those who have ears to hear, let them listen attentively. Nigeria is not well because Nigerians are being killed day by day,” Ishaku declared.

He criticised the minister’s apparent incompetence, citing the loss of armed forces members, including those from the Army, Air Force, Navy, and Police Force, as well as the continued captivity of university students without any clarity on their whereabouts.

In no uncertain terms, Ishaku called for the Minister of Defence to either “wake up to his responsibilities or resign”, emphasising the dire state of the nation’s security and the toll it has taken on lives and property.
