Kwara lawmaker disburses N150,000 to 30 indigent students as bursary

Mr Olumide Awolola, Kwara House of Assembly member, representing lsin, has disbursed N150,000 bursary allowance to 30 indigent students from his constituency.

The News Agency of Nigeria NAN reports that the bursary was disbursed on Friday by the member to assist beneficiaries in their education pursuit including a Master degree student.

Each of the beneficiaries, who were regarded as indigent students selected from various Secondary Schools across the eleven wards in the local government area, received N5,000 each while the only Master degree student among them got N30,000.

Presenting the bursary awards to the beneficiaries at lwo-lsin, the legislator said the gesture was borne out of the need to build future leaders.

He charged the beneficiaries to manage the token to settle their immediate need in the pursuit of their career.

Chief lyiola Oyedepo, a Chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, described the assistance as a bold step towards boosting students and pupils enrollment at the grassroots.

Oyedepo commended Mr Awolola for taking a right decision to assist the people of Isin in view of his numerous contributions to his consistency.

The APC Chairman, Isin Local Government, Chief Dele Ogunbayo lauded the lawmaker for his nugget of wisdom in responding to the needs of the downtrodden.

The Education Secretary, Isin local Government council, Mr Olalere Balogun on behalf of parents and teachers of the beneficiaries appreciated the lawmaker for prioritising education

The event was witnessed by several eminent personalities from within and outside the council area.
