Return T/Balewa LG headquarters to its original place; give us chiefdom—Sayawa community tells Bauchi Governor

The Zaar Development Association (ZDA) has appealed to Bauchi Governor, Bala Mohammed to actualize the Sayawa Chiefdom restore the headquarters of Tafawa Balewa Local Government from Bununu to Tafawa Balewa town.

The National President of the Socio-cultural group, Engr. Isuwa Galla who made the call in an interview with newsmen at the weekend in Bauchi said that the creation of Sayawa chiefdom had already been gazetted by the successive administrations in the state, hence the need for its implementation.

According to him, “about the issue of Zaar Chiefdom, you know, many people have their traditional institution, many people have their rulers and leaders. “His Royal Highness, the Emir of Bauchi is the Chairman of Bauchi Council of Traditional Rulers and the Zaar Chiefdom is still under the council of chiefs, so if given the chiefdom, we will really appreciate it because that is what we have been agitating for.”

“So I think in the interest of justice,  fairness, for lasting development, progress, sense of belonging and also to balance everything, Sayawa Chiefdom should be actualized now”, the ZDA President said.

Isuwa Galla who recalled that several commissions and committees have recommended for the actualization of Zaar Chiefdom in Tafawa Balewa wondered why it is been delayed.

He also urged the present government of Bala Mohammed to with immediate effect return the Tafawa Balewa local government headquarters from Bununu to its constitutionally designated area in Tafawa Balewa town.

According to him, since normalcy has returned, the state government should restore back the local government headquarters to where it was constitutionally located.

“The relocation of Tafawa Balewa local government headquarters from its constitutionally designed area to Bununu which has been described as unconstitutional by many needs to be reconsidered in the overall interest of the people of the local government”, Engineer Galla said.

“Now, if the reason for the relocation of the local government headquarters to Bununu was due to crisis as it was claimed by the former administration of Isah Yuguda, I think normalcy has since returned in the area, the Headquarters should be restored to its original place in Tafawa Balewa town”, he  insisted.

WikkiTimes recalled that the headquarters of the local government was relocated to Bununu town during Isa Yududa’s administration following sustained ethno religious crisis in the LGA.
