Senator Halliru Dauda Jika, the Senator representing Bauchi Central in the Senate, has promised to empower women and youth if elected Bauchi governor in the 2023 governorship election under NNPP.
Jika said this while interacting with newsmen in Bauchi.
He said women and youth empowerment are the rudiments for any meaningful development.
The gubernatorial hopeful stressed that with local governments’ autonomy, grassroots development would be guaranteed, hence it would remain one of his priorities to acquire the local councils’ legitimate autonomy.
Senator Jika said he will run inclusive governance through justice and rule of law.
“If our women and our youth are empowered, there would be progress. Then there is no autonomy in Local governments, I will try to allow them to exercise a level of autonomy to bring more peace and progress from the grassroots.
“I will ensure justice in my governance in accordance with the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and in accordance with my faith. I will fulfil campaign promises and ensure the new Bauchi State”, he promised.
Senator Jika was elected Senator under the All Progressive Congress APC in 2019. He contested in the party’s governorship primaries but lost to Air Marshal Sadiq Baba Abubakar (retired).
Sadiq polled 370 to defeat his closest challenger Jika garnered 278. He however dumped APC and joined the NNPP where he took the governorship ticket of the party.
