ALERT: Terrorists Are Regrouping Around Niger Forest

Marauding terrorists were reportedly sighted around Hana Wanka forest in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.

According to Yusuf Sani Kokki, a youth leader in the community, the terrorists in their large number were seen regrouping in the forest neighbouring Bassa/Kukoki ward and other villages in the LGA.

WikkiTimes learnt that the banditry-ravaged areas in the LGA have been peaceful since the beginning of the rainy season. However, there are fears that the marauders could strike any moment soon.

Kokki, in a Facebook post said that some days back, the terrorist were seen in their large number in a forest along Shiroro and Rafi axis

“This regrouping of terror gangs has catastrophic effect on unarmed and defenceless locals as there could be imminent deadly attacks on unsuspecting members of the public. Before now that criminals are rearing their ugly heads, we have recorded relative peace in these wartorn communities,” he said.

Kokki added that, the terrorists are infiltrating the area because of the continuous military onslaughts on their hideouts Kaduna and Zamfara States.

“Government should as a matter of urgency take the fight against terrorists to their dens,” he advised. “Approaches need to be changed as the present reactive tactic is no longer fashionable and result oriented. If proactive measure in fighting terrorism is not deployed by Niger State Government, dangerous attacks could occur in the future, thereby making our quest to nip the lingering insecurity in the bud in the State to remain an endless mirage. God forbid!”
