Bandits Waylay Cattle Dealers in Taraba, Abduct Scores

Terrorists locally known as bandits yesterday, abducted an unspecified number of people in Maisamari cattle market along Gurgu road, Mambila Plateau area of Taraba state. 

According to Mustapha Gembu who posted the incident on Facebook, the bandits barricaded the road before abducting the locals.

He added that one prominent cattle seller in the area, Alhaji Dahiru Nairomi, was said to be a prime target of bandits. Luckily, he escaped the abduction. 

“After the cattle market in Maisamari, today, dare devil kidnappers reported to have blocked Maisamari Gurgu road to abduct many.

“An unconfirmed report has it Alhaji Dahiru Nairomi, a popular cattle business man was the main target of the abductors but lucky enough He narrowly escaped their target and the satanic mission,” Gembu said.

Some of the abducted persons include Aliyu Dewa, Sanda Joauro, Yunusa (Touga), Buba and unnamed others.

Unverified reports also had it that a soldier stationed at a checkpoint along the road was shot. He was spotted by the locals and rushed to hospital for medical attention, according to Gembu.

“Apart from door-to-door abductions, this is the first time of the kidnappers embarking on mounting a road block to abduct people on the Mambilla plateau,” he added. 

Efforts to reach the Taraba Police Command were futile as a phone call and text message sent were not responded to at press time.
