‘Be Patriotic To Move Nigeria Forward,’ Bello Kirfi Tells Youth

Alhaji Muhammad Bello Kirfi, former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in the Second Republic, has charged Youth in Nigeria to emulate the good virtues of past leaders who served the country with sacrifice and patriotism for things to change for the better in the country.

The elder statesman stated this on Sunday at the Maitama Sule Leadership Lecture Series organised by the Coalition of Northern Groups in Bauchi.

Bello Kirfi, who is also the Wazirin Bauchi, described youth as the mirror of every society that can play a vital role in changing the negative narrative of leadership by some unpatriotic citizens who lack the interest of the country at heart.

He attributed the socio-economic development recorded since independence to the foundation laid by our fallen heroes such as the late premier of the Northern region Ahmadu Bello and others who do not consider any material gains as a priority in serving the country.

Former Bauchi State Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC Comrade Abdullahi Koli identified some factors responsible for bad leadership in the country to include ethnoreligious differences, corruption and insecurity among others.

Comrade Koli called on people to embark on fervent prayers for the country to overcome its numerous challenges.

To this end, the Director New Media Comrade Muhammad Bello Aliyu said that the main reason for the lecture series is to reshape the minds of young Nigerians towards them being engaged in politics and other activities and to utilize them to imbibe the good characters of the past leaders.
